OPPO Malaysia was founded in 2014, and is responsible for promoting the brand, marketing, sales, and creating omnichannel cooperation opportunities in the Malaysian market. In six years, OPPO Malaysia has grown to become one of the top three mobile phone brands in Malaysia, with more than 3,000 employees.

Garry, the manager of the sales department at OPPO Malaysia talks to us about how DingTalk has improved cross-region communication.

Can you describe your job at OPPO Malaysia, and what is a regular day like at OPPO Malaysia?

I am the manager of the sales department at OPPO Malaysia, a company that has over 4,000 employees. Every day, we spend a lot of time on internal communication and managing workflows. For example, I have to participate in multiple meetings every day, most of which are between different branches in Malaysia and the headquarters in China.

How has DingTalk helped you facilitate cross-region meetings?

I really like using the video meeting function on DingTalk, mainly because it has so many helpful functions. For example, I can easily identify who is speaking, and which participants have just lost connections. What really impressed me was the call quality, which has far exceeded our expectations. Our company has also integrated many DingTalk smart devices into our day-to-day work, such as the portable projector. I am a huge fan of the portable projector, because it allows me to make presentations in any meeting room without worrying about technical issues.

Can you share with us how you used to manage orders before using DingTalk?

We had purchased an order management system to help manage orders, but we had a hard time sharing information within our company because the system could not be integrated with the other internal systems. We basically had to log on to the order management system every time we needed order information or when we wanted to submit an order.

How do you manage orders now?

Right now, we have successfully integrated all our internal applications onto DingTalk. Our sales personnel can just log on to DingTalk and perform all the operations they need. You can look up order information, reserve products, and check analytics reports all at one place. It is very convenient.

How has DingTalk changed the way OPPO Malaysia delivers announcements?

Before using DingTalk, we used to write or print announcements and pinned them to our announcement board. However, we faced challenges in ensuring that everyone reads the announcements. Now, we perform all announcements through DingTalk, whether they are emergencies or when we want to applaud certain employees. The DING function is extremely useful as we can easily track personnel who may have missed the announcement and send them a personalized reminder about the announcement.

What is your favorite DingTalk function?

There are many functions that I love about DingTalk. For example, making announcements has never been easier. With just a click, I can send announcements to all my staff, and rest easy because I know that the announcement will reach everyone. It is effective, easy to use, and ensures that information is delivered in a timely manner. What's more, all communication records are saved permanently, and I can easily retrieve the information I need.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the way many people work. How has DingTalk improved the work from home experience?

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Malaysian government has initiated the Movement Control Order (MCO), and employees have been advised to work from home. The attendance function has been very useful in this case, allowing us to clock-in and clock-out from our homes. The daily report function is also an indispensable tool that we use to track and share our progress across our department. I also make full use of the schedule management function in DingTalk to help me organize my work schedule. All-in-all, I would like to say that DingTalk is a very helpful platform and has become an essential part of my workday.
